Platform strategy / cybersecurity / business continuity

The replacement was already underway.

An architectural assessment identified serious risk in a company's primary revenue platform. I initiated a modernization track before security incidents made the transition urgent.

01 / Architectural assessment

A fragile platform at the center of the business.

The company's e-commerce platform handled its primary sales journey. An architectural review revealed structural technical debt and security weaknesses, leaving the business particularly exposed ahead of its busiest season.

For a custom manufacturing business with annual revenue in the $2–5 million range, December through February accounted for roughly 40–50% of yearly revenue. A serious failure at that moment could jeopardize more than $1 million in seasonal revenue.

These were not simply issues to put on a maintenance list. The risks called for a replacement architecture and an operating plan that would preserve the customer journey throughout the change.

02 / Contingency planning

Start the replacement while there is still time.

I initiated parallel development of a modern platform with an established international development partner, while the legacy system remained in use. The approach preserved a path to a planned transition while preparing for the possibility of an earlier deployment.

We chose Vue.js, Nuxt.js, and Laravel, worked to preserve useful prior development investment, and concentrated on the functions essential to the purchasing journey.

Preparation created choices. When the incident arrived, the team had something real to deploy.

That contingency became critical when security breaches forced the organization to accelerate the change. The system was already substantially developed; the problem became delivering the core platform under pressure, rather than starting from scratch.

03 / The transition

Change the architecture.
Keep the business moving.

The team balanced technical replacement, security hardening, operational continuity, and an accelerated release. This simplified diagram shows the contingency strategy rather than internal production topology.

04 / Decisions under pressure

The contingency became the plan.

Working with distributed developers across Bulgaria and the United States, I coordinated priorities, quality checks, and stakeholder decisions as the security situation demanded a faster transition.

Risk discovered

Architectural weaknesses revealed a business continuity problem, not just a backlog of defects.

02 / PREPARE

Replacement underway

Parallel development created an actionable contingency before the incidents.

03 / RESPOND

Accelerated launch

The team deployed core sales functionality in weeks as security threats intensified.

04 / RESTORE

Visibility recovered

The platform supported stronger search performance and high seasonal order volumes.

05 / The results

Recovery with room to grow.

The modernization enabled the business to continue selling through a security-critical transition and helped restore organic search visibility. The original project record reports 400% traffic growth, with organic search reaching more than 2,000 monthly clicks from a near-zero point during recovery.

It also reports top-three rankings for more than 20 important keywords, an accelerated platform launch, and the highest order volumes since before the pandemic. More than $1 million in seasonal revenue was exposed to the original risk; that figure describes revenue at stake, not audited savings.

The most valuable work happened before the situation became an emergency.
